Christian Clayton is an American multidisciplinary artist, painter, and image-maker whose work is defined by a commitment to intuition, vulnerability, and "gut reaction." After a storied twenty-year career as one half of the internationally acclaimed Clayton Brothers collaborative (1996–2016), Christian has transitioned back to a dedicated solo practice that explores the intricate tapestry of the human condition.
Christian’s solo work is driven by a deep curiosity for the unpredictable outcome of making. His practice begins with a love for the drawing line, using it as a primary visual language to construct narratives that resonate on a profound emotional level. Whether working in painting, collage, or sculpture, his sensitivity to color and shape creates "visual currents" that guide viewers through themes of shared existence and the complexities of human emotion.

A dedicated mentor, Christian received the "Great Teacher Award" from the ArtCenter College of Design, where he taught for over 24 years.
Today, Christian lives and works in Los Angeles County. His current individual studio practice continues to push the boundaries of media—merging traditional techniques with a modern, abstract visual slang.
